A new blog has begun by the producer of "Red Steel" from Ubisoft's Paris studio. The producer, Marie-Sol Beaudry, gives the introduction and begins with the challenge of working with the new motion control medium from the Wii.

From the blog: "The challenge for working on a new system, especially one that has such a focus on the interface with the Wii controller is that everything we’re doing in the game is directly effected by the controller. This includes everything from level design, overall game design, movement and storyline. When we first received the controller our imaginations were limitless but then we spoke to our programmers and determined that there were guidelines and rules of which we’d need to adhere to in regard to both functionality as well as game play. "

The initial demonstration at E3 2006 drew some criticism over the controller's response time from movements being captured and reflected in the game. Word is this has been addressed and the controls are more responsive now.

Read the blog here at IGN. The next update is in two weeks. There is a "developer blog" section on the official Red Steel site, however at the time of this writing it was inactive.
