Review Summary:
At one point or another, everyone has listened to Green Day. Whether it was one of their biggest hit tracks like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Know Your Enemy," or even "Basketcase." With three complete albums (including their newest 21st Century Breakdown album if you have the 6 downloadable tracks), lots of videos and never before seen photos of the bands history, this is possibly one of the most fun Rock Band releases so far (if you are a fan of the band). The character models of the band look a little stale, and although there aren’t as many visuals or background animations like there were in The Beatles: Rock Band, I had a lot of fun with this game. From Drums to Vocals, every instrument was a blast to play. Green Day: Rock Band will forever last in my collection.

Green Day: Rock Band review
Green Day: Rock Band takes Rock Band to a new level with a 47-song track list comprised of all Green Day tracks, including big hits like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Know Your Enemy," "American Idiot," and "Brain Stew/Jaded." Three of the bands biggest albums are on this game in their entirety which are Dookie, American Idiot, and their newest album, 21st Century Breakdown if you have downloaded the six downloadable tracks.

As a long time fan of Green Day, I really enjoyed playing all of these tracks. The setlist is awesome. While I wish they would have put some of their singles such as "A Quick One While He’s Away," or "Working Class Hero," this game really shines through with the amazing setlist. This game isn’t easy either. There are a lot tough songs for Drums, Vocals, Guitar and Bass and it will offer a good challenge to those who play the higher difficulties. But most importantly, the tracks are fun. There are also quite a few tough Achievements and Trophies to be awarded in this game, such as "Trés Cool" where you have to hit 40 notes in one drum fill (and trust me, this is really hard if you don’t own a double bass adapter.)
Included in Green Day: Rock Band is the option to play vocal harmonies, and if you have two other local friends that want to sing, it is totally worth it. Green Day: Rock Band would be hard to imagine without the vocal harmonies as all the band members do sing in a lot of the songs. The most fun I had was with the Drums. Lots of thrilling and challenging beats in Green Day: Rock Band make it one to keep and try to master. The drum trainer in this game is quite hard to complete as well, and might even have you trying a few times just to master a couple of those beats.

You will also get awarded for doing well in career mode, similar to how it worked in The Beatles: Rock Band. If you three-star a song, you will unlock one exclusive picture and a point called a ‘Cred’ (more on that later). If you five-star a song, you will unlock another exclusive picture with an additional ‘Cred’. Now, while some of the pictures are neat, the thing you will want to go for are the band’s videos which include live performances, interviews with the band and more. The way you obtain these videos is beating challenges you have unlocked with your ‘Cred’. These challenges include beating a set amount of songs or beating a full album in a row. This is still fun as it was in The Beatles: Rock Band and its nice to see how the band performed from the early ’90s to the present day.
One big problem I have with this game are the character models. The one character model that really bothered me is the bassist Mike Durnt, who looks very pale and unfinished like the rest of the band members. It just seems they put a lot less effort into making the band members look like they are/were then they did in The Beatles: Rock Band.

In conclusion, if you like any of Green Day’s music, this will definitely be worth the buy. With three albums in Green Day: Rock Band (including some other tracks from other albums) and a challenging, fun career mode with challenging achievements, any Rock Band player will definitely have a blast with the game. Again though, Green Day: Rock Band will appeal to you if you like the band’s music; if you don’t, then you may want to steer away from it.
