The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has announced the final nominees for the 14th Interactive Achievement Awards (IAA). Among the games leading IAA nominations are Red Dead Redemption (9 nominations), God of War III (6 nominations), ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West (6 nominations), Mass Effect 2 (5 nominations), Call of Duty: Black Ops (5 nominations) and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (5 nominations). There are even nominations for games like PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX, Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies. Four to five games have been nominated among 24 categories. Some of these even include multiple game publisher nominations in one category.
Details on when the 14th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards will happen:
“The awards ceremony will take place during the D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit 2011 on Thursday, February 10th at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, hosted by comedian, actor and proud game enthusiast, Jay Mohr, returning for his sixth year as host. This year’s IAAs will be broadcasted on G4 with a one-hour special and will air on Saturday, February 12th at 4pm ET / PT . This media partnership will also include a live same-day webcast of the IAAs in its entirety on G4tv.com/DICE at 7:30pm PT / 10:30pm ET.”
“2010 saw many great achievements in interactive entertainment,” said Martin Rae, president, Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. “The Academy is continually impressed by the quality of games and creativity that are put forth each year from the men and women of this medium. Great games are found everywhere – this year’s nominations illustrate the depth and breadth of our game experience for titles from core consoles, browsers and personal entertainment devices like the iPhone.”
If you have seen the previous IAA shows, you know that Jay Mohr is pretty relentless in his comedy with game publishers, developers and sometimes game media. Definitely watch the live stream (G4tv.com/DICE, 10:30pm ET) on February 10, 2011 for an entertaining show. Check the list below and see if your favorite games of 2010 are among the nominees. With such a big list, notice any games that are absent? (I see Konami is noticeably absent with games like Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow not on any lists.)
