NBC Universal and Bigpoint today announced the first ever Battlestar Galactica Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG), based on the television program. Battlestar Galactica Online will be shown at this year’s Games Developers Conference at booth 2038 with an estimated release date of Fall 2010.

This adventure game will be available right in your internet browser with no download required (similar to other MMO’s like Runescape). You play as a human or Cylon and will encounter missions, weapons, ships, worlds and more as the storyline unfolds in glorious high resolution 3D graphics, setting a new standard for browser based MMOs.

"Battlestar Galactica is a supremely gameable intellectual property, with compelling character classes, a fantastic array of ships and weaponry, multiple worlds, and a dramatic storyline," said Bill Kispert, VP & GM, Digital Platforms, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. " We are excited to work with Bigpoint – and our partners at Universal Cable Productions and Syfy – to bring an epic, accessible, and ‘always on’ BSG experience to fans of the franchise and online gamers alike."

Battlestar Galactica Online is being developed by a Norwegian development studio called Artplant. You can see a teaser site by visiting bgo.bigpoint.com and register for e-mails and updates.
