Gamertag Radio answered our questions on their upcoming Community Vibes 4 event taking place this Saturday (2/21/09) in Miami, Florida. Mixing music, games, and the gaming community of course, check out more details below on the event and what you can look forward to!

What inspired you to start Community Vibes?
Community Vibes started out as a small party in an family member’s office with about 30-40 people and a couple of Xbox 360s to play Halo 3 and Xbox Live Arcade games. In late 2007 while brainstorming with the rest of the GTR staff, we came up with the idea of throwing a huge event to give back to the community we love so much. We decided on Community Vibes as the title and the purpose of a yearly birthday celebration. Last year was the first Community Vibes event and we packed PS14 in Miami’s trendy Design District with close to 600 people.

With this 4th year of Gamertag Radio’s Community Vibes event, what are you most excited about?
Collaboration with the different teams that are helping us out this year has to be one of the highlights. We’ve gotten major support from our fellow South Florida sites, Destructoid, SFX-360, R3y’s Gam3day & Game Wars and are are hoping to put the South Florida Gaming community on the map.

How has the response been so far?
Outstanding! One of the reasons I love our community. Godfree & I have been on close to 20+ interviews in support of the event. Like I said earlier, last year we drew about 600 people. We’re expecting twice as much, if not more, this year.

About how many gaming companies have jumped on to support the event?
More and more each day. We’ve got less than a week to go and we’re still getting support from gaming companies. The biggest supporter this year is Tritton Technologies. Tritton is a producer of high-end multimedia gaming products and most known for their AX 360 & AX Pro series headsets that feature true 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound and 4 speakers in each cup (8 total). For more information on them, go to trittonusa.com. Other support includes an Xbox 360 Elite from Microsoft, a PS3 80GB from FuriousGamer.net, Tritton AX Pro Headsets and a ton of games including; Afro Samurai, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe and a lot more. I’d also like to give a big shout out to the owners of PS14 & Ecco Lounge, Aramis & Brian! Without their help, we’d never have gotten the chance to throw either of these events. For more information of their establishments, check out eccomiami.com and ps14.com.

What are some of the things gamers can expect?
We’re going to have 3 tournaments going on. Destructoid is hosting a Street Fighter IV tournament for the first 50 people that register while SFX-360 & Game Wars will be hosting a Gears of War 2 2v2 & Halo3 2v2 tournament. Registration for all 3 tournaments begin at 3pm so make sure you get there early if you wish to register for the tournament(s). We’re also going to be doing giveaways galore. We’re going to try and make sure everyone gets to take home a little something.

What are some of the things non-gamers can expect?
A lot more than just a bunch of gamers I can tell you that. We’re also going to have local DJ Sharpsound on the decks from about 6:00pm and opening for Miami Hip Hop legends Mayday! & Garcia on stage. There’s going to be a little bit of everything here.

Any surprises you have planned?
Wouldnt be a suprise if I spoiled it now would it?

Is there anything else you want to tell readers about Community Vibes 4?
Have we mentioned the giveaways and its free? What else are we gonna do this Saturday anyways? Come to downtown Miami, play some games, check out some local artists then head out to party.
