DJ Hero recognized as #1 revenue earning new IP by NPD Group

Activision Blizzard released a new smash hit last year with their game, DJ Hero. Today, Activision Blizzard has announced DJ Hero was named #1 New Intellectual Property of 2009 by the NPD Group, according to retail sales. DJ Hero mashes up classic hip-hop and electronic based songs, creating a tremendous soundtrack with innovative gameplay. The interactive music experience uses a Turntable controller and features over 93 exclusive mixes created by Cut Chemist, DJ Shadow, Jazzy Jeff, and Z-Trip just to name a few.

"DJ Hero has transformed music gaming by marrying an innovative turntable controller and exhilarating gameplay with the biggest artists and incredible music from around the world," said Robert Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard.

The critically acclaimed DJ Hero has earned over 15 Best Music Game awards, as well as landing on many best of 2009 lists including Time Magazine and USA Today. FreeStyle Games and Activision Blizzard have made a great game that revitalizes the music rhythm gaming genre and puts it in a new direction.
