At this past weekend’s Spike TV Video Game Awards show, Harmonix and MTV Games presented some gameplay footage of the upcoming Rock Band game, titled Green Day: Rock Band (see the HD video here). The game had been rumored since June 2009, when Green Day announced it during a radio show interview. Green Day: Rock Band features the band Green Day with a vast majority of their tracks from their latest album, 21st Century Breakdown.
In Green Day: Rock Band, you play through their career as you perform tracks from Green Day’s music. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong said "We’ve worked with the Rock Band team in the past year to enable our fans to play tracks from 21st Century Breakdown, and we’re excited to now be working on a game, spanning our entire career."
Green Day: Rock Band will feature models of all the band members along with a feature to export all of the tracks from this game to Rock Band 2. If you simply cannot wait for this title, Harmonix has you covered. There are currently three tracks already available on Rock Band 2 from Green Day, along with another three tracks being added on December 15th. These tracks are all from the band’s latest album 21st Century breakdown.
Green Day: Rock Band will be available in 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. No exact release date has been announced as of yet.
