Want to help participate in a record breaking event, gaming enthusiasts and cosplayers? Guinness World Records is looking for New York Comic Con attendees to help set the new record for “Largest Gathering of Videogame Characters.” Last year in London, the bar was set at the London Games Festival, with 342 videogame characters accounted for.

“If you love video games and you plan on dressing up like your favorite characters in true cosplay fashion then come join us to break the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Gathering of Videogame Characters.”

At the Galleria in the Jacob Javits Center.

Saturday, February 7
Sign up begins at 6:30
Record attempt scheduled for 7:30
Some rules noted:
- All participants must be wearing costumes representing characters from video games.
- Characters from other media such as films, television, books and comics are acceptable; however these must have been featured in video games first (hint: Lara Croft).
- All participants must be gathered in one location and will not be able to exit area until record attempt is finalized.
I’ll be there to see if hopefully you all can make it happen! The newest Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer’s Edition will be available starting tomorrow, February 4, 2009.
