Below are some personal anticipated games from the writers of GamingBits.com:
Alexis’ anticipated 2011 games:
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is going to be a long wait through the 2011 year, but at least it is finally set for 11.11.11. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the most satisfying action-RPG experience on the Xbox 360 for me, so I am eager to see what Bethesda is cooking up for Skyrim. The expectations are high, but I have faith that Bethesda will deliver. In contrast to that long wait, just around the corner is Dead Space 2. If you’ve played the demo and original Dead Space, you know you are in for a thrilling ride. If you haven’t played the demo, go now to the PS3′s PlayStation Store or Xbox 360′s Xbox LIVE Marketplace and download it! Here are a few third part game installments that I am eagerly waiting for as well: Mass Effect 3, Killzone 3, Gears of War 3 and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception! The Nintendo 3DS looked amazing at E3 2010 and with many big game developers backing the 3DS, I’m looking forward to Nintendo’s little 3D glasses-free system. And maybe a new PSP?
Geoff’s anticipated 2011 games:
As some of you can tell by my top games of 2010, I am a huge BioWare fan. When I was able to get my hands on Dragon Age II at PAX, I was hooked. If the improvements from Mass Effect to Mass Effect 2 are any indication, BioWare knows how to advance an already great series. Speaking of Mass Effect, with only a short Mass Effect 3 teaser trailer to whet my appetite, I can’t wait to see more of what BioWare has to show in their conclusion to an amazing series. I hope to know more at PAX East and E3 because it is supposedly coming Holiday 2011. Eidos Montreal has been working on the next entry in the Deus Ex series for years now. A demo was shown at NYCC and E3, but hopefully I can get my hands on it at PAX East 2011 and let you all know that it is amazing. With a long development cycle, it seems that Eidos Montreal is doing its best to live up to one of the most influential PC games of all time.
Roly’s anticipated 2011 games:
The 2011 year seems to be a year of potential blockbuster sequels to already promising hits. A few notables include Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3 and Dragon Age II; all established stories with an inviting set of plots. To say this is the breadth of the crop of A-list titles for 2011 is demeaning. There are really more which span many a genre, including Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It is also a year where Nintendo brings us yet another console/handheld with the Nintendo 3DS, which I’d actually like to get my hands on sometime in the year. If the game releases are all evenly spread, then 2011 can easily be one of videogame history’s greatest years.
James’ anticipated 2011 games:
Batman Arkham City is shaping up to be just as dark and gritty as the first game and the reveal of Dr. Hugo Strange as the main villain is absolutely perfect in my opinion. I’m hoping for a co-op aspect to be announced sometime later this year. Brink mixes RPG elements with the free-running of Mirror’s Edge, making for an interesting concept. From the preview videos released so far, it seems like movement and weapons are pretty spot on. What has me most excited about Brink is the objective system. Players are rewarded for helping their team, so hopefully there will be less grievers and team killers than there are in Halo: Reach. For Gears of War 3, the novels Jacinto’s Remnant and Anvil Gate paint a bleak picture for the survivors of the Locust War. As a fan of the Gears of War series since its debut, I’m looking forward to seeing how the story will conclude. With Mass Effect 3, The conclusion of numerous story threads is enough to excite even the most passive of Mass Effect players. For me, it’s finally seeing Earth and battling armies of Reapers that has me most excited. Uncharted and Uncharted 2 are, in my opinion, the best games on the PS3. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception looks to bring more of the same epic set pieces in a new and interesting environment.
