Think it was tough to find the Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition controller? MadCatz and Capcom have just announced a very limited 500 controllers of the FightStick that will be released this week, featuring an exclusive design for Comic-Con 2009. The controllers are based on the existing Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition (Xbox 360, PS3) and Street Fighter IV Fight Pad (Xbox 360, PS3), but have artwork featuring Sagat’s scar. The Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition will cost $179.99 and is limited to 250 units on the Xbox 360 edition and 250 units on the PlayStation 3 edition. The Sagat FightStick will be numbered for their limited status. The Fight Pad will cost $49.99 and is limited to 500 units on the Xbox 360 and 500 units on the PlayStation 3. The Fight Pad isn’t numbered.
Mad Catz Art Director Roentgen D. Reyes comments on the design of the limited edition controllers: “When we set out creating the Limited Edition artwork we knew that we had to create an impactful design that was radically different from the previous imagery and color schemes. With that in mind we chose not to concentrate on a group of characters but instead produce something targeted to the fan community. After working through a number of designs, we focused on one of the strongest ‘fan-favorite’ characters in the game, Sagat. The character is renowned for his large scar which game legend tells us was caused by archrival Ryu. In my mind, playing Street Fighter® IV evokes the player’s competitive nature, with rivalry a key element of the experience.”
The Limited Edition Comic-Con Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition and Street Fighter IV Fight Pad will be available for purchase at the San Diego Comic-Con at Capcom’s booth (Hall G, Booth 5113) starting Wednesday, July 22nd to Sunday, July 26th. If you won’t be able to make it there, MadCatz is still giving you a chance at the Sagat Fight Pad. The Limited Edition Comic-Con Street Fighter IV Fight Pad will be made available on the Mad Catz online Gameshark Store.
