October NPD Game Sales Numbers: Nintendo Leads Once Again

October NPD gaming sales reports are in and Nintendo is back to claim top spots with the Wii and DS after a slight upset last month by the Xbox 360, thanks to Halo 3. Looks like the Xbox 360 Arcade System hit too late in the month to make a significant impact. The Playstation 3 is struggling in the final position, but with the debut of the $399 Playstation 3 hitting in early November, we should see a change.

On the software sales side, the Xbox 360 dominated with Halo 3. Guitar Hero III nabbed the following three places (minus the PS3 version). One Wii game that continues to make the top 10 is due to the included Wii Remote controller. That would be Wii Play. Makes it seem the driving force behind the Wii is the Wii itself. Or shortages?
