Namco Bandai Games’ Soul Calibur IV will be online multiplayer enabled. The word comes from Soulcalibur IV Director Katsutoshi Sasaki, in a posting on 1up.com.

“What’s changed this time round is that the next-gen platforms have network infrastructure already in place,” says Soulcalibur IV Director Katsutoshi Sasaki. “We’ve heard from fans that they really want the game to be online, so we figured that, with the current environment, we really couldn’t make SC4 without online play.”

This isn’t the only Namco Bandai fighter stepping into the online arena. Namco Bandai recently announced that TEKKEN 5: Dark Resurrection on the PS3 will be getting a downloadable content pack to enable online multiplayer. Could that be the guinea pig to Soul Calibur IV’s online multiplayer matches? It is set to be out first. Watch for the TEKKEN 5: Dark Resurrection content pack later this year, which will sell for $9.99 from the PS3′s Playstation Store online.
