OnLive VIZIO HDTV

Today OnLive announced a couple of exciting bits of news for its cloud gaming service. OnLive and VIZIO will offer the OnLive Game Service directly from VIZIO HDTVs, VIA Blu-ray players, Android tablets and smartphones without the need of a game system. The cloud game service expands its reach yet again, adding the VIZIO line of electronics to its distribution. Currently, the OnLive Game Service can be accessed from PCs, Macs, the OnLive MicroConsole game system and with some features accessible from the iPad. What is great about this, and unique to OnLive games, is that games can be played across the devices (with the exception of the iPad currently), including save games as well. It is yet another significant move to making the OnLive Game Service accessible and universal across multiple electronic devices.

More details on the VIZIO line of OnLive compatible products will be revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week. The VIZIO devices with OnLive compatibility are estimated to arrive in stores later this year. OnLive also announced SRS 5.1 Surround Sound will be coming soon and be compatible with all devices that support SRS 5.1.

To mark this occasion, OnLive is offering a great deal on its OnLive MicroConsole, dropping the price from $99 to $66, this week only (through Sunday, Jan. 9 2011 at 11:59 PM PST). For $66, you get the OnLive MicroConsole system, a controller, and more (see the details of what is in the box here). In addition, you can select a free OnLive game of your choice and get free access to the PlayPack Beta for even more games to play. Gaming at this level doesn’t get cheaper, or more accessible, than that to play. Order the OnLive MicroConsole system here.
