Disney released a neat little freebie app for the iPhone and iPod touch today. It’s a free promotional application for the upcoming TRON Legacy film and TRON Evolution game, but also a gateway to some other cool little TRON items.
Included in the free TRON app is the Tanks Arcade game, which offers both Single Player and Multiplayer tank combat. The Tanks Arcade Single Player game offers 15 levels and unlockable achievements and leaderboards. The multiplayer game offers 2 to 6 player arena deathmatches. Tanks Arcade is a fun and polished looking game, definitely worth your time. Disney really knows how to grab its audience with some TRON eye (and finger) candy!
Comic-Con attendees who "Get in the Grid" using the TRON app and iPhone GPS can unlock extra content. Comic-Con attendees should launch the TRON app while at Disney’s ComiTRON booth at the San Diego Convention Center (Aisle #3712), starting this Thursday for the additional content. Even if you’re not attending Comic-Con (or ComiTRON), you’ll want to keep the TRON app handy for future updates that will be released before the film’s debut this December.
