Indie game developer Intrinsic Games (Divergent Shift) is bringing a unique take on real time strategy games with their new DSiWare game, Amoebattle. Blowing up microbes to an all new level, Amoebattle is a RTS that pits adorably illustrated organisms against infections. Yes, Intrinsic Games has made that happen.
“This is easily the most ambitious project we have ever undertaken. We wanted to craft an experience unlike any other,” said Hersh Choksi, President of Intrinsic Games, “This is the definitive handheld title that RTS fans have wanted since the Nintendo DS touchscreen was first introduced.”
About Amoebattle, from Intrinsic Games:
“Command 9 different types of amoebas, each with their own distinct strengths and weaknesses. Create a swarm of Locust amoebas by utilizing their instant replication trait, or hunt down other microorganisms with the paralytic toxin of the Viper amoeba. Use the terrain to your advantage by placing herbivorous Queen amoebas next to empowering algae patches or hiding your carnivorous Sharks in murky water to prepare for an ambush. Turn the tide of battle by deploying technological probes such as the freezing Cryo Probe or the mind controlling Purify Probe.”
GamingBits will be catching up with Intrinsic Games at E3 2011 to bring you more details on Amoebattle. See more screens and information on Amoebattle at the official website, intrinsicgames.com/Games/Amoebattle. Check out the June 2011 issue of Nintendo Power for more details on Amoebattle, in an interview with Hersh Choksi and Henry Liu, designer of Amoebattle.
