Nintendo is lighting up Wii consoles tonight, sending out an announcement that a system update is available for the Wii.
From Nintendo’s announcement: “An Update to your Wii Shop Channel is now available. This update is needed in order to access WiiWare games launching this Spring.”
This is in preparation for the WiiWare game service coming on May 12, 2008. You may experience connection difficulties if you’re trying to get the update tonight (3/20/08). Both the “System Update” method and the “Wii Shop” Channel may be overloaded during the evening of March 20th, but there is over a month to get the Wii System Update in time for WiiWare.
