Back in July 2010, Just Add Water (JAW) teased that they had been working with Oddworld Inhabitants. Today JAW announced they are bringing Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath to the PlayStation 3. The game is a remake of the original Xbox’s Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath (released in 2005) and marks a return of the Oddworld series to the PlayStation platform since 1997 (Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee). What can you expect to see revamped for the PS3? Here’s an excerpt from JAW’s announcement:
“JAW has worked closely with Oddworld founders Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna to ensure the remake is faithful to the original moolah-chasing epic, while offering a raft of enhancements, including: stunning 720p visuals; much more detail in the characters; normal mapping and self-shadowing; re-mastered dialogue, support for PlayStation®Move; and additional bonus material still to be revealed.”
Keep a lookout for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, which will be available for the PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network next year, around Easter.

If you have not noticed, Angry Birds, from developer Chillingo, has been taking over the planet. After over 4 million downloads on the App Store, Chillingo has announced that its breakout hit will be hitting the PlayStation Network on the minis section of the PlayStation Store this fall. Included in this version of Angry Birds are new challenges, golden eggs and a brand new “World 4.” There are still no details on how the touch controls will be integrated into this version of the game but no matter how it is done, the accuracy will be greatly increased.
This is only one of many great PSP/PS3 minis that are coming this fall, but Angry Birds is definitely a powerhouse and should bode well for the PlayStation Store. For more information, visit www.chillingo.com or www.rovio.com.

It has been a while since catching up with the progress on Dungeon Defenders. Almost one year. But what a difference the development time makes for the Unreal Engine powered game, which melds tower defense strategy and action-RPG genres. Previously known as “Dungeon Defense” (see here), it was anticipated for the PC, but unknown what game platforms it would be released on. Today game developer Trendy Entertainment announced it would be released on the PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Network), Xbox 360 (Xbox LIVE Arcade) and PC (Steam, Impulse, GamersGate) this fall. The PlayStation 3 release will even include support of its latest tech, both 3D and PlayStation Move.
“Dungeon Defenders turns the tower defense genre on its head and adds a degree of depth seldom seen in a digital title,” said Jeremy Stieglitz, development director of Trendy Entertainment. “There is meaty character leveling and customization, awesome loot drops and plenty of team-oriented defensive strategy to manage, but then you have this action-packed wave-based standoff that gets continually more intense. It’s as deep as it is instantly fun.”
Dungeon Defenders supports 4-player online and local gameplay, and includes 15 arenas and various gameplay modes. Keep this game on your radar! You can see a previous build of it as “Dungeon Defense” on Epic Games’ UDK Showcase.
