The PLAYSTATION 3 received a system update late last night. Firmware Update 2.7 is now live. The next time you power on your PLAYSTATION 3 and connect online, you’ll be notified to get the latest update. Here’s what is added with version 2.7:
- Text Chat to communicate with your PlayStation Network friends. It supports up to 15 friends at a time. It also finally allows you to chat with friends while playing PLAYSTATION 3 games.
- Friends list on XMB (XrossMediaBar): sort friends list by online status. You can also send larger files (increased to 3MB)
- Back up video files to an external device. Videos purchased on your PSP can be moved to PS3 for viewing.
