You can now display your PSN ID online and check to see if your PS3 friends are online. It’s similar to the Xbox 360′s online gamercard profile, which gives you access to a few features from your PS3′s PSN ID. New stuff you’ll be able to do once you link your PSN ID to your PlayStation Underground (playstation.com) account, as noted by Sony:
- Identify yourself on the Web using your PLAYSTATION®Network portable ID
- Display your portable ID on social networking sites
- Meet other PLAYSTATION®Network members
- See who’s who on the PlayStation® message boards
- Keep tabs on your PLAYSTATION®Network friends on the Web with the Friend List
You’ll need to have a PlayStation Underground account and your PLAYSTATION 3′s PSN ID ready. Sign in using your PlayStation Underground account (or sign-up if you don’t have one), over here.
One you have those both your PSN ID and PSU account ready, go here to link them together. You will then be taken to a sign-in for your PSN ID. Once that is done, you’ll be ready to get your HTML code! It may take a few minutes to become active, but check for it from your “Account Profile” page on your PSU account management. Click on the “PORTABLE ID >>” link.
The avatar and about me can only be changed from the PLAYSTATION 3. It definitely would be nice to see more details, like trophies or recently played games, but it looks like this is the beginning.
