The Playstation 3′s Playstation Network (PSN) is currently down for maintenance, as the screen below shows when attempting to login. Things are obviously in the works to upgrade the PSN, as SCEA president and CEO Jack Tretton stated in yesterday’s PS3 80 GB announcement:

“As we move into the next phase of PS3, it’s important that we continue to evaluate our product line, offering consumers the technology and features that meet their growing needs for new forms of media and the way in which it is delivered,” said Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA. “The introduction of the 80GB PS3, the new pricing for the current 60GB model, the availability of more than 100 new software titles this fiscal year and, finally, the expansion of services for PLAYSTATION Network, will provide even more options for users and will help bring new consumers into the PS3 fold.”

Sony will be updating the PS3′s Playstation Network with E3 content throughout this week. We’ll post an update as soon as the PSN is up!

Update: The Playstaton Network is back up, and has been for some time, as it was down for about 20 minutes according to the Playstation Blog. “As some of you may have noticed, we did a bit of minor maintenance on PlayStation Network this morning. For less than 20 minutes we took PSN down for a routine update, nothing more. It’s back online and fully functional. We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Patrick Seybold, Sr. Manager, PR.

Anyway, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some Killzone 2 content from E3 soon!
