The futuristic racer WipEout has been confirmed for the PS3. A report on IGN reveals that Sony’s Liverpool Studio has officially confirmed that a PS3 version of WipEout is in development. The game will make use of the SIXAXIS controller. Hopefully they can have more success with the motion controls than other PS3 racers such as Ridge Racer 7 or GripShift on the PS3, which can be more frustrating than enjoyable.

From IGN: “Speaking to Develop magazine in the UK, Clemens Wangerin, internal development director at the studio, said the WipEout team is working on a PS3 version, stating the new game has “SIXAXIS controls, maybe online multiplayer and downloadable content.”

Screenshots have yet to be seen, but we’ll post ‘em when they are released.
