Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is now shipping for the Sony PlayStation Portable. Castlevania debuts on the PSP platform (well, not counting Symphony of the Night, which you could get previously from the Playstation Network). The US is the first region to get Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles.

Features of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, from Konami:

- The classic action game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood re-imagined for the PSP® system with 3D graphics, enhanced gameplay and new music.

- Includes unlockable versions of the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night games, optimized for the PSP system.

- Timeless side scrolling action through more than 10 gothic stages and additional hidden areas.

- Return to previously completed levels to find additional secrets.

If you order from GameStopicon in time, you just may get a free 8-bit “Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest” Simon Belmont figure, produced by action-figure maker, Neca.

Wired’s Game|Life caught up with the series creator Koji Igarashi, aka Iga, at E For All 2007. While the PSP Castlevania game is launching today, Castlevania DS gamers won’t be left in the cold. There will be another Castlevania to come to the Nintendo DS platform, although Konami has yet to make any official announcements.

From Wired’s Game|Life: “First, we’re doing another Nintendo DS version. There hasn’t been an official announcement, but we’re doing it. First, we want people to enjoy the PSP version, and afterwards we’re announcing it. So, please wait a little bit,” said Iga. After all, there’s enough to keep you busy in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles, with three games on one UMD. But I know blood-thirsty Castlevania fans can never get enough. We’ll bring you an update when Konami makes the DS announcement.
