Shadows of the Damned

Shadows of the DamnedWhoa, talking skull heads on a stick? That’s putting it mildly, as the team of Grasshopper Manufacture have cooked up some more craziness for their newest game coming from EA, Shadows of the Damned. The game development team at Grasshopper Manufacture includes Suda51 (No More Heroes director), creative producer Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil director) and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill sound director). In Shadows of the Damned, players take the role of a leather-clad demon hunter out to rescue the love of his life.

EA is hosting a live chat with producer Joel Wade on Tuesday, June 21st at 4pm PST. Joel will be taking questions while giving a live gameplay preview of Shadows of the Damned. Don’t miss it and visit the live chat link at www.ea.com/1/shadows-of-the-damned-chat at 4pm this Tuesday.

About Shadows of the Damned, from EA:
“In Shadows of the Damned, gamers will assume the role of Garcia, a hard-as-nails, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding professional demon hunter who finds his true love kidnapped by vengeance-seeking demons. As he explores the farthest reaches of the netherworld, Garcia battles through hell and back, with danger and turmoil around every corner. Throughout Shadows of the Damned gamers will find themselves challenged by demented puzzles and thrust into gruesome battles with vile and deformed creatures that can only come from the darkest recesses of hell. The game features a grotesque, highly stylized art direction that transports players into a grisly world. The entire experience is enveloped with a pulse-pounding musical score by famed videogame music composer Akira Yamaoka, that takes the over-the-top action sequences and intense boss battles that both Suda51 and Mikami are renowned for creating to new heights.”

Shadows of the Damned debuts for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Visit the official website at www.ea.com/shadows-of-the-damned for more details on Shadows of the Damned.

The Rock Band Network (RBN) is a network where nearly any local band can get their tracks onto Rock Band. Harmonix has announced that the following five tracks will be released on the Rock Band Network for the PS3 tomorrow.

Flogging Molly – Drunken Lullabies (Live)
Jonathan Coulton – Code Monkey
The Shins – Australia

The selected tracks are based on sales from the Xbox 360 version of the Rock Band Network. Yes, only five tracks but it is a start. More tracks will be available on the PlayStation 3 as time passes. HMXHenry has also stated that the team is also working hard on getting the service for the Wii, but have still yet to find a way on how to do so.

Previously, we held a contest here of GamingBits.com for a closed beta key giveaway on the game Heroes of Newerth (PC, Mac, Linux). Although we ran out of beta keys a long time ago, the good news is that S2Games has just announced Heroes of Newerth will be entering open beta on March 31st and plans to release quite a few new updates as well. This means that beginning tomorrow, March 31st at 4PM PST, anyone can sign up to play the wildly addicting Heroes of Newerth game.

S2Games has also stated that they plan to include many updates including new heroes (characters), possible new items, and more. Recently, Heroes of Newerth was given a facelift on the whole User Interface which included a faster system, matchmaking, and a whole new tutorial system for new users.

Heroes of Newerth is expected to hit retail sometime this year for a price of $30 per account. For those who don’t know, this game is a wild remake of the popular Warcraft 3 mod called DOTA and has been given a graphical boost along with a whole new line of features. Tomorrow, March 16th, is the launch day of the highly anticipated God of War III. With only hours left until the game is unleashed for the PlayStation 3, it’s time to plan where to get it first in your area tonight or where to find some last minute pre-order deals online for God of War III. Here you go:

Midnight store openings:

GameStop – More than 3,500 GameStop stores will be open tonight, starting at 10pm. Some GameStop stores will host God of War III events, including a "Choose your Deity" costume contest, trivia challenges and God of War II game challenges. Check here on gamestop.com to see if stores in your area will be at midnight tonight.

Best Buy
– About 200 Best Buy stores will be open for the midnight launch of God of War III. See the participating Best Buy stores here.

Last minute pre-order deals:

Amazon – Save $10 off a future video game purchase and get the in-game Apollo skin (unlocked after first playthrough of God of War III).

Best Buy – Save $10 when you purchase God of War III and the God of War Collection.

GameStop – Get the in-game Phantom of Chaos skin (unlocked after first playthrough of God of War III).

Walmart – Get a bonus $10 Walmart.com eGift Card with the purchase of God of War III.

As for finding the $100 God of War III Ultimate Edition, your best bet now is in stores as it looks like most online pre-orders are sold out. At the time of this posting, I only spotted it on one major retailer site, Target (here). If you really want it and can’t find it in stock (and are prepared to pay above the $100 MSRP) you can always try out eBay.

UPDATE: Thanks to the comment below, looks like Amazon.com does have the God of War III Ultimate Edition in stock again.

For more details on God of War III, visit the official website at www.godofwar.com. If you’ve found any other deals or midnight launch locations for God of War III, let us know with your comment(s)!
