The original Army of Two integrates an "aggro" mechanic where you become more enticing to your enemies as a meter fills up, allowing your partner to flank them. It is very different from other third-person shooters released during this time period. The story involves some generic paramilitary corporations and mercenaries. Can't wait to see the improvements the team has made in the past two years. Look forward to more coverage as we get closer to release.

EA Montreal is developing Army of Two: The 40th Day and it is scheduled for worldwide release on January 13th. For more information on Army of Two: The 40th Day or to pre-order the game, visit www.armyoftwo.com. For more information on EA Montreal, please visit www.eamontreal.com or  www.ea.com.

EA Montreal has announced details on a unique touch that several cars will be getting in the upcoming Need for Speed NITRO game. Artists from brands such as tokidoki, i am 8-bit and Upper Playground have created custom paint jobs for cars in the upcoming Wii and DS game. Their designs are featured on vehicles such as the Lamborghini Gallardo, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger R/T, Volkswagen Type 2 and Subaru Impreza WRX. Inspired by the art? You’ll also be able to customize your car with the over 140 brushes created by tokidoki, i am 8-bit and Upper Playground. Paint the town with your domination of the road!

“tokidoki, Upper Playground and i am 8-bit create art with distinct and cutting edge personalities,” said Gil Rimmer, Art Director, EA Montreal. “With Need for Speed NITRO, we wanted to give players a variety of ways to customize their vehicles, introducing vivid and fresh urban art styles that have never been seen in racing games before.”

EA breaks down a description each of the brands:
"The tokidoki brand is one of today’s most popular lines of apparel, accessories, toys, skateboard decks and other merchandise. The brand is characterized by a colorful, high-energy artistic style, while the word tokidoki means “sometimes” in Japanese. The name represents the company’s world view around identity and destiny. tokidoki was founded by Simone Legno and his partners and started as a personal web site before it evolved into an internationally celebrated brand.

Upper Playground is a cutting-edge, San Francisco based brand that brings graffiti culture to all types of street wear such as t-shirts, hats and hoodies as well as housewares and wall art. The Upper Playground punk rock art style has defined it as one of today’s hottest brands among musical tastemakers and Hollywood trendsetters.

i am 8-bit is an artistic collective that brings together over 100 artists reinterpreting their favorite old-school video game characters in a variety of media, including paintings, plush, sculpture, and even interactive pieces. The art is showcased at an annual exhibition held in Los Angeles, California every year since 2005."

Need for Speed NITRO will be shipping on November 17th for the Wii and DS. See more on Need for Speed NITRO at nitro.needforspeed.com

Electronic Arts announced today that the sequel to Army of Two will not be hitting the fall quarter, but making its way to retail in January 12, 2010 in the US and January 8, 2010 in Europe. This third person shooter will be gracing the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PSP. I believe that pushing this game to a usually slow month will be good for sales, but will EA be able to crack the Modern Warfare 2 crowd only four months from its release? I don’t think so, but apparently EA does believe it will. Although the original game seemed generic, it sold well enough to warrant a sequel and hopefully the team behind it has learned since. One thing I know they have toned down is the “Bromance” that many reviewers and fans bashed the game for.

Currently, EA will be giving people who pre-order the game “exclusive” access to the new Extraction multiplayer mode. EA says “Extraction pits a team of four players against a series of unique enemy waves as they move from point to point in the ruined city. Players must strategize as a unified team to combat the different forces of the 40th Day Initiative while trying to get out alive.” Can’t wait to battle some PMC’s (Private Military Corporations) in this sequel. I am always excited for any Unreal Engine third person shooter, and this follow up by EA Montreal will certainly not disappoint.
