Tonight at 8:00 PM ET, Spike TV is hosting its 7th Annual Video Game Awards 2009. Visit the Spike TV VGA page here starting at 3pm ET today, where the pre-show VGA rehearsals will be and where you can catch a world premiere game trailer. A few world premiere game trailers are anticipated to be revealed tonight, including new trailers for upcoming games such as Crackdown 2, Halo Reach, Medal of Honor, Tron, UFC Undisputed 2010, and “the next Star Wars game.” See a few game teaser trailers here, here and here. Many celebrities and musicians will be at the VGA 2009 show, along with a preview of the upcoming Prince of Persia film.

“Academy Award nominated Actor Jake Gyllenhaal will be on hand to dole out the night’s most prestigious honor, Game of the Year, as well as to present a special look at his upcoming Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, future blockbuster “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.” Grammy Nominated rapper and gamer Snoop Dogg will be performing at this year’s live event.

Also scheduled to appear at the “VGAs” are Kristen Bell, Felicia Day, Green Day, Tony Hawk, Tricia Helfer, Forrest Griffin, Alyssa Milano, Zachary Quinto, Mike Tyson, Olivia Wilde and the stars of Spike TV’s forthcoming original comedy series “Blue Mountain State” – Alan Ritchson, Darin Brooks and Chris Romano.”

Game Developers Conference 2009

Last night at the 2009 Game Developers Conference, the recipients of the 9th annual Game Developers Choice Awards were announced.

Fallout 3 took the Game of the Year award. The game winning the most awards was LittleBigPlanet. Dead Space once again received recognition for its audio. Hideo Kojima received the Lifetime Achievement Award, but Metal Gear Solid 4 was snubbed from any award. See the awarded games below, a list of games you should try if you haven’t already.

Fallout 3: $300 Million Launch Week

Bethesda Softworks has announced record sales and shipments of Fallout 3
during last week’s launch.

From Bethesda Softworks: “Approximately 4.7 million units of Fallout 3 were shipped worldwide last week for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows representing retail sales in excess of $300 million.

Released on October 28 in North America at midnight store openings in over 2,000 retail outlets nationwide jammed with fans eager to get the game, Fallout 3 quickly became one of the industry’s top sellers around the world. For example, in the United Kingdom where it was not released until Friday, October 31 the rapid sales of Fallout 3 have led the game to be ranked number one among all video games, as well as being the number one game on each of its three platforms.”
