SEGA and High Voltage Software have released some additional screens and details on the multiplayer game of Conduit 2 as well as a new release date for the Wii game. Conduit 2 has seen a good share of rescheduling for the release date in the last few months. The last announcement placed a March 22nd release date for Conduit 2, however SEGA has set the release back another month, this time for April 19, 2011. This “allows for the team to continue to balance and enhance the game’s multiplayer,” said SEGA. I’m always for a bit of added development time if it means a better gameplay experience in the long run. SEGA is obviously taking High Voltage Software’s development concerns into consideration. To see the latest Conduit 2 screens released, see the gallery below (or here for fullscreen or mobile viewing).
Conduit 2 will features a variety of unique multiplayer gameplay types to keep players busy with the game long after completing the single-player story. Here are the details from SEGA on the 14 different multiplayer gameplay modes:
Deathmatch: First player to the kill limit in the time allowed wins!
ASE Ball: Longest time holding the ASE wins!
Bounty Hunter: Kill your assigned target for points or kill those hunting you for fun. But beware; killing someone who doesn’t fill those roles will cost you points!
Free for All CTF: Get to the flag and then carry it back to a random goal location. First to the scoring limit wins!
Team Deathmatch: First team to the kill limit in the time allowed wins!
Shared Stock: Teammates share a pool of lives while trying to get the highest kill count possible.
Capture the Flag: Each team tries to capture the ASE (flag) of the other. First team to the capture limit in the time allowed wins!
Killing Override: First team to the kill or capture limit wins!
Single Flag CTF: Teams fight over a single centrally-located ASE (flag). First team to the capture limit wins!
VIP: Fight to kill the randomly selected VIP on the opposing team. First team to the point limit wins!
ASE Basketball: Each team tries to capture a centrally-located ASE and then carry it into the enemy base. Toss or carry the ASE through the goal to score. First team to the point limit wins!
Balloon Battle: Lose balloons with every death. Gain balloons with kills. With no balloon, become a mini bomb! Last player alive wins!
Annexation: Teams fight for control over capture points. These totems award points over time. First team to the point limit wins!
Power Surge: Teams must defend their own generator while destroying the enemy’s when its shield is down. First team to destroy the generator or the team with the more intact generator wins!
Those are plenty of variations, along with the traditional multiplayer gameplay types. There will also be a variety of customization in the player’s multiplayer character. Here are the details on that from SEGA:“Conduit 2 also allows total customization for players. Up to four different loadouts can be created per profile, each with a choice of Primary Weapon, Secondary Weapon, Grenade Type and up to four Suit Upgrades. Players can also customize up to four different avatars, one for each profile, with 7 character models, over 20 modular parts and 16 primary and secondary color choices per character section.”
SEGA and High Voltage Software have released a new weapons trailer for Conduit 2. The weapons trailer showcases some of the unique weaponry of Conduit 2 such as the Hive Cannon, the colorful and deadly Aegis Device, the stealthy AR-C Eclipse, the powerful “see and shoot through walls” Phase Rifle and the deployable Widowmaker Turret. They all have their own unique primary and secondary fire. See a few screenshots from the weapons here.
About Conduit 2, from SEGA:
“Conduit 2 is the second chapter in the epic story of Secret Agent Michael Ford, a tormented man who barely survived the alien invasion of Washington D.C. In the closing minutes of The Conduit, Michael was faced with a choice: follow the nefarious John Adams through the conduit portal or die. Standing in Adams’ bunker as the invasion of Washington D.C. rages above him, starring at the strange conduit in front of him, Michael had only one choice. Follow the bastard and finish this once and for all.”
SEGA America also confirmed the release date for Conduit 2, which is now set for the Wii on March 22, 2011. The release date has bounced around a few times, but it looks like it is finally set in stone for March 22nd. Pre-order the Conduit 2 Limited Edition here at GameStop.com. High Voltage Software has confirmed with IGN that Conduit 2 will be released on February 15, 2011. After several estimated release months, SEGA has committed to the date. The official press release from SEGA America should be coming soon. Conduit 2 will offer much more varied environments and deeper online multiplayer combat. Seeing how the game has been presented so far, it looks like there is a big emphasis on the multiplayer. Surely more on the single-player story will be unveiled as the release date nears. Expect more of the A.S.E. (All Seeing Eye).
Conduit 2 will be released for the Wii and will be available as a GameStop Exclusive Collector’s Edition in North America. The Conduit 2 Limited Edition comes at the same $49.99 MSRP of the regular edition Conduit 2 game from other retailers. Pre-order The Conduit 2 Limited Edition here at GameStop.com.

Conduit 2, exclusive for the Wii,will be available as a standard edition and in a GameStop Exclusive Limited Edition (pre-order here) sometime in February 2011.

SEGA and developer High Voltage Software are once again rolling out a “Limited Edition” for Conduit 2. Word comes from an email sent by GameStop earlier today, which stated: “We just learned Conduit 2 will have a limited edition, with a 44-page art book, an in-game “All Seeing Eye” and a “Gold Destroyer Armor” skin.” From the small thumbnail of the Conduit 2 Limited Edition, you can see it is a bit more silver in tone than the regular box art (along with the subtle “Limited Edition” text under the logo).
GameStop’s link points here but as you will see, it leads to the standard edition. It’s unclear if the Conduit 2 Limited Edition will be exclusive to GameStop as it was for The Conduit. Keep a lookout for more details soon!
Update: Details have been formally announced. Here are more details from SEGA, High Voltage Software and GameStop on The Conduit 2 Limited Edition package contents:
