Kratos’ angry mug hits store shelves today. SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny is now available for the Sony PlayStation Portable. God of War’s Kratos is heavily prominent on the cover and back of the box, as he’s the featured guest character for the fighting game. Does any fighter stand a chance? Check it out in the PSP debut of the Soulcalibur series.

See a trailer below and various character art here.

Some features of SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny, as noted by Namco Bandai Games:

“Adding depth to the combat, an all new single player Trials mode has been specifically created for the PSP system that not only tests a gamer’s reflexes but also improves their skills. Annihilating the competition has never been so satisfying as finely tuned and enriched battle mechanics including Critical Finishes, Soul Crushes and Equipment Destruction can be used to unleash devastating combos. In addition, players can further develop their basic fighting skills and fine-tune advanced techniques with over 80 exercise missions or practice in the vigorous Training mode. Let the trash talking commence as SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny allows gamers to engage in local wireless battles, allowing them to challenge a friend using the PSP system’s ad hoc networking.”

SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny is now available for $39.99 on the PSP. Watch for our review here on GamingBits soon!

The San Diego Comic-Con 2009 is on and as you’ve probably seen from the last few articles, there’s quite a few gaming collectibles being offered. Expect to see more over the next few days as Comic-Con events and announcements run through the weekend. Here’s quite a collectible Sony just announced yesterday in partnership with United Cutlery: The God of War Kratos Blade of Chaos. A replica of the famed, and sometimes flaming, weapon from Kratos.

Details from United Cutlery:
“The blade is cast from zinc aluminum material with custom etched mold textures and features fantasy grindings that mirror the piece carried by Kratos. The replica was created using the finest grade materials and craftsmanship available. Also included is a custom tabletop display stand with God of War insignia and fantasy silkscreen along with a certificate of authenticity.”

How much will one of these cost you? It’s currently up for pre-order here at $123.99. See more God of War merchandise posted here at GodofWar.com.

Kratos gets his own comic soon. A six part mini-series comic book based on the God of War game will begin on October 2009. The comic book series comes from a partnership with Sony and WildStorm. The monthly series will end on March 2010, just in time for the release month of God of War III on the PLAYSTATION 3.

Read an interview with the writer of the God of War comic, Marv Wolfman, here on IGN. The interview reveals that the comic will include part of the story in the first two God of War games, although no details are given if it touches on any of God of War III’s story.

Watch for more on the WildStorm website.
