Nintendo America is hosting a press preview event on January 19, 2011, to unveil more details on the Nintendo 3DS release. The glasses-free 3D portable gaming system should finally be getting a release date and price confirmation for North America. Until now, only the Japan release date (February 26, 2011) and price (25,000 yen) of the 3DS has been confirmed. It has been rumored that the Nintendo 3DS will be released in March 2011 in other regions (as also shown in this GameStop listing).
Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime will be presenting the Nintendo 3DS details in the New York City press event. There will be more than the 3D Nintendo character demos shown at E3 2010, with hands-on gameplay as well. Keep a lookout for more details on Nintendo’s latest breakthrough in portable gaming in just a few weeks!

Here you go:
Midnight store openings:
GameStop – More than 3,500 GameStop stores will be open tonight, starting at 10pm. Some GameStop stores will host God of War III events, including a "Choose your Deity" costume contest, trivia challenges and God of War II game challenges. As for finding the $100 God of War III Ultimate Edition, your best bet now is in stores as it looks like most online pre-orders are sold out. At the time of this posting, I only spotted it on one major retailer site, Target (here). If you really want it and can’t find it in stock (and are prepared to pay above the $100 MSRP) you can always try out eBay.

Square Enix today launched their classic role-playing games, Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II, on the App Store for the iPhone and iPod touch. These two RPGs are based on the NES Final Fantasy games that started a saga, which now goes to 13. Originally released in Japan in 1987 and 1988, both games have been updated with enhanced graphics, sound and controls for the iPhone and iPod touch platforms. There are also new dungeons that were not included in the original games, so previously players can experience something new.
In celebration of the launch, Square Enix has reduced the cost of its other iPhone and iPod touch games until March 3, 2010. Here are the other games on sale now through March 3rd:
Today’s the launch day of Borderlands, from game developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games. Get ready to play a first-person shooter and role-playing game, all in one. As a matter of fact, 2K Games is calling it a "role-playing shooter (RPS)." In Borderlands, you’ll explore the wasteland of Planet Pandora. Solo or with some friends, it’s your choice. There’s going to be plenty of missions, loot and stat building.
“The Borderlands team at Gearbox has brought together the things we know we love – co-op, skill-based action, character development and millions of guns – in a way we haven’t seen before,” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. “Borderlands is a great shooter that we can play alone or with friends. I think it’s the best video game we’ve ever made and I have never been more excited about a launch.”
Borderlands will keep you busy in the months ahead. A "bazillion" guns are there to be discovered, says 2K Games. Expect future downloadable expansions, starting with the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, available later this year. See the launch trailer for Borderlandshere.
Borderlands is now available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America and will be available internationally starting October 23rd. Watch for Borderlands to arrive on the PC on October 26th (October 30th internationally).
