Dragons Vs Spaceships (XBLA)

Just the title of Dragons Vs Spaceships is likely to perk your interest on the unusual combo. Game Production Studios has managed to blend the two very different worlds together for one unique fantasy shooter. Dragons Vs Spaceships is an Xbox LIVE Indie Game title taking part in Microsoft’s Dream Build Play 2011 challenge. For the Dream Build Play 2011 challenge, Dragons Vs Spaceships was created using XNA Game Studio and has been submitted as part of the competition.

In the lore of Dragons Vs Spaceships, dragons have been a species that have outlasted all others. That is, until an unknown alien force threatens their existence. Players are cast a one of four remaining dragons to thwart the alien force. The top-down shooter looks like Dragon Spirit in one level, but clearly jumps to a whole other level when combined in space battles.

Game Production Studios has let us know a few additional details of Dragons Vs Spaceships. Two-player co-op will be supported. As in any shooter, expect boss battles and unique dragon upgrades. Among the six dragon powers is an ability that allows the player to “grab a ship in an electric grip and swing it around smashing it into other ships causing massive amounts of damage,” said Chris Brousseau of Game Production Studios.

Watch a trailer from Dragons Vs Spaceships for yourself below (here on YouTube), to see how the developers have managed to create a unique shooter experience. Good luck to Game Production Studios on their Indie XBLA title and their running for part of Dream.Build.Play 2011!
