Candy Train (iOS)

Game developer 4th & Battery, the spin-off independent minded studio from PopCap Games, today released their second iOS game on the App Store, Candy Train. Following the studio’s initial release of Unpleasant Horse, Candy Train is a very different offering. In Candy Train, players are challenged to direct a train to its cargo by rotating tiles with a tap. Speed can be increased, but keeping the moving train on the track by linking track pieces is key to scoring. Pick up additional sweets along the way to the station destination for even more bonus.

Don’t be fooled by the game’s candy-coated exterior. Turning tiles to keep up with the pace of chugging train is a frantic challenge to stay one step ahead. Players have one chance to score as many points as possible. And don’t think laying down a huge winding track is a workaround. Some pieces will randomly switch up, keeping you on your toes. Gameplay is quick, and an Expert level is humbling. Candy Train could definitely use some Game Center support, which 4th & Battery just may do as is in the works for Unpleasant Horse.

Considering Candy Train is free to download, there is no reason not to sink into this addictive game offering by 4th & Battery. Download Candy Train now, here from the App Store, for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Another great freebie from 4th & Battery!

Unpleasant Horse from 4th & Battery (iOS)

Bringing new meaning to quick time-killing games, 4th & Battery has released Unpleasant Horse on the iOS platform. This first game from PopCap Games’ brand new experimental studio is available for free from the App Store. Unpleasant Horse is very different from any of the previous casual games from parent PopCap Games, adding a bit of a black comedy to gameplay (and always ending in loads of gibs).

In Unpleasant Horse, players control a black, skull-branded and winged horse through a series of jumps. Initially powered with only one jump, the unpleasant horse lives to terrorize “Pritty Ponies.” Players can jump from cloud to cloud. Birds can be hit to stock up feathers, which add additional jumps. Jump on the back of a Pritty Pony to send it to the ground grinder, and try to make a quick escape before getting caught up in it.

Unpleasant Horse‘s gameplay sessions may only last seconds, having only one life and some tough odds. Player’s best bet for staying alive is hitting birds to stock up on feathers. Otherwise, the life of the unpleasant horse is short-lived. Camp out on a cloud to wait for a bird before taking a leap. A final tip: gain as much height as possible by going the vertical cloud jumping distance. The higher you are when you land on a Pritty Pony, the more points you rack up during the descent to the meat grinder.

Jump to it and download Unpleasant Horse from the App Store, here for the iPad or here for the iPhone.
