Mutant Mudds (3DS)

Renegade Kid has announced Mutant Mudds for the Nintendo 3DS. The official website (www.renegadekid.com/mutantmudds.htm) just launched, which looks like it is optimized for display on the Nintendo 3DS internet browser (we’ll have to see it online via the 3DS next week). Leading character Max can alternate between 2D planes, by “jetting between the background and the foreground playfields.” From the Mutant Mudds 2D screenshots and that gameplay mechanic, it looks like it will be a fun 3DS downloadable game.

About Mutant Mudds from Renegade Kid:
Mutant Mudds is an exciting new platform game for the Nintendo 3DS from award-winning developer, Renegade Kid. This marks the company’s first self-published title, available exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in 2011.

Armed with a heavy-duty water cannon and H20-powered jet pack, Max steps out onto the porch of his (parents’) home; determined to thwart the filthy plans of the Mutant Mudd army by blasting and hovering his way across the soiled landscape.”

Majesco Entertainment - Nintendo 3DS Majesco Entertainment today announced their first two upcoming Nintendo 3DS games, Pet Zombies in 3D and Face Kart: Photo Finish. Each game incorporates several unique functions of the Nintendo 3DS, including the accelerometer, camera, and (of course) 3D graphics. Face Kart: Photo Finish is being developed by Renegade Kid (of Moon and Dementium DS fame).

“We’re incredibly excited about the potential of the Nintendo 3DS,” said Jesse Sutton, Chief Executive Officer, Majesco Entertainment. “Nintendo continues to innovate and Majesco is committed to being a leader in supporting this new device with products that offer consumers engaging and fun interactive entertainment experiences. We look forward to sharing additional Nintendo 3DS product announcements shortly.”

Here are the first details on each of the upcoming 3DS game, from Majesco Entertainment:

Developed by 1st Playable Productions, Pet Zombies in 3D lets players raise their very own decaying human pets by managing their special dietary preferences (brains and the like), bodily maintenance (or lack thereof) and morbid activities needed to keep them happily undead. Players can choose to play with, care for, or even mischievously torment their zombies in creepy locations like cemeteries, evacuated malls or rundown military bases. Each 3D environment is customizable with mix-and-match objects, themed backdrops and even music to best fit each pet zombie’s personality and tastes. Throughout the game, players can discover new zombies to add to their horde and customize them with facial bone deformations, variable decay, clothing and unlockable items. Players will also use the Nintendo 3DS accelerometer controls in various activities, including rolling zombie heads through mazes, and can earn trophies and in-game currency to spend in the Zombie Pet Shop.

Developed by Renegade Kid, Face Kart: Photo Finish lets players tilt and turn the Nintendo 3DS to steer their photo customized speedsters through 20 unique race tracks, as they drift around corners, soar over chasms and speed past the competition. Players use the Nintendo 3DS camera to snap their own picture and then map it onto their avatar, the landscape or even a turbo boost so they can pick up their very own power-ups as they race. Each avatar offers up to one hundred choices in hair, clothing and eyewear, plus cars can also be customized by tuning and tweaking to create the ultimate personalized racer.

Both Pet Zombies in 3D and Face Kart: Photo Finish are scheduled for release on the Nintendo 3DS this fall.

This week at retail, some of the new game release highlights include Capcom’s Monster Hunter Tri, SouthPeak Games’ Dementium II and a new controller for the Wii from Nintendo, the Classic Controller Pro, available in White or Black (also bundled with Monster Hunter Tri). Will Capcom enjoy the success of Monster Hunter Tri in North America as it’s had in Japan? It will definitely offer an online experience that few Wii games do, supporting Wii Speak and scheduled online challenges. If you happen to be in New York City today, April 17th, stop by the Nintendo World store and meet the game’s producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka.

The Nintendo DS/DSi/DSi XL will be getting an exciting game for Mature players, Dementium II. After a few delays, it’s finally here from Renegade Kid and SouthPeak Games. Renegade Kid really has the first-person experience down on the DS, and they put you in the center of the terror in Dementium II. DSi XL gamers can amplify the horror on the larger screens, something I’m looking forward to doing. Mature gamers rarely get a nice treat on the DS platform, so check out Dementium II. Younger gamers or rhythm music fans, check out Beat City. The game is similar to Rhythm Heaven. THQ has an online demo of it here on Facebook.

SouthPeak Games and game developer Renegade Kid have launched a new website for Dementium II, the upcoming horror FPS for the Nintendo DS and DSi. Visit the new website at www.dementium.com. Don’t worry, you are at the right place at the Bright Dawn Treatment center website. As you’ll notice from the Bright Dawn website, things aren’t always what they seem in the world of Dementium II. Poke around the website, and you will surely discover the darker side of Dementium II.

From SouthPeak Games:
"Dementium II promises more scares, nastier monsters and an improved game engine to make it even more gruesome than the original. Players take on the role of William Redmoor, who wakes up in the mysterious Bright Dawn Treatment Center after brain surgery. However, there is something terrible happening at the center and William soon discovers horrific creatures, an insane surgeon and ghostly links to his troubled past."

Dementium II will be available February 16, 2010 and is available for pre-order. Watch for this Mature-rated horror game on the Nintendo DS and DSi systems.
