Risen

Risen 2: Dark Waters

Years may have passed since the conclusion of Risen, but the dangers from the deep are far from over. Since the events in the island of Faranga in Risen, Risen 2: Dark Waters takes place in the age of pirates. A new Risen 2 cinematic trailer from publisher Deep Silver and developer Piranha Bytes hints at the voodoo magic and firearms in the dark setting. It is definitely a different feel from the original’s fantasy RPG setting, but looks even more mysterious.

Risen 2: Dark Waters has been confirmed for release on the Xbox 360, PC, and is also a debut for the series on the PlayStation 3. Keep a lookout for more on this action-RPG soon! Visit the official website at risen2.deepsilver.com.

Risen – review

by GamingBits on April 12, 2010

in Game Review Bits

Risen
Available for Xbox 360, PC
Game Developer: Piranha Bytes
Game Publisher: Deep Silver
Release Date: February 23, 2010
Official website: risen.deepsilver.com

Review Summary:
Risen is an action role-playing game that offers a tremendous amount of exploration, quests and character development for many hours of gameplay. It throws some of the traditional barriers of RPGs out (no inventory limits, no invisible walls and barely any loading screens). Players who demand the latest HD graphic visuals and action gameplay may not be impressed with what Risen has to offer. There are some technical pitfalls you may run into as well. What Risen offers best is many hours of gameplay, a unique approach to character development, some beautiful environments, and a story that grows on you throughout the game. Only the persistent will survive the quests and trials of Risen and truly feel a sense of accomplishment in the end.

Rating: 3.75 out of 5

If you’re looking for an excuse to go on a new fantasy-RPG outing, here it is. Risen is a new role-playing game, now available for the Xbox 360. Risen lets you create your character to your own liking. Through choices and experiences in the game, rather than from a character class selection screen, you develop your character to your liking. “We are thrilled to share the deep RISEN experience with Xbox 360 gamers in North America,” said Jon Schutts, Senior Producer at Deep Silver, Inc.  “With the combination of immersive gameplay, positive reception of last fall’s Windows PC release and a newly optimized game experience on Xbox 360, we are positive that roleplaying fans will find RISEN to be a favorite among their RPG collection.”

Risen was previously available for the PC, but now Xbox 360 gamers can enjoy the RPG. If you’re tired of restrictive inventory slots, and want a vast open-world to explore across seamless environments, Risen is a nice deal at its $49.99 debut price (here).

Fantasy role-playing fans in North America awaiting for Risen on the Xbox 360 won’t have to wait much longer. Today game publisher Deep Silver announced that they will be bringing Risen to the Xbox 360 this February. Prepare to set some time aside in February to embark on the 60+ hour RPG.

About Risen, from Deep Silver:
RISEN is a massive, open-world RPG where every decision counts and every action continuously shapes a player’s reputation. In a medieval setting, the game begins with the player shipwrecked on an island in turmoil, rocked by mysterious ruins rising from the ground. Players will battle dangerous creatures yet the promise of ancient treasures will lead them on an adventure where they must choose to align with either the native Rebel faction, or the mysterious Order and its Inquisition. Only then will they determine just what is truly happening on the “forbidden isle.”
