It’s been several years since the last Ghost Recon game was released. There’s good news today if you’ve been itching for more. Today Ubisoft announced their next follow-up to the Tom Clancy series of combat games. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been announced for a Holiday 2010 release. The game is in development from Ubisoft Paris, who brought us Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and GRAW 2 as well. Ubisoft is touting that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will "go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience."
In addition to announcing the upcoming Ghost Recon game, Ubisoft has revealed that a multiplayer beta for it will be available in Summer 2010. How do you get access? By purchasing Ubisoft’s other upcoming game, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction, for the Xbox 360. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction will be available for the Xbox 360 (and PC) on April 2010. It’s available for pre-order in a Limited Edition and Standard Edition.

The first quarter of 2010 is shaping up to be one of the busiest game release schedules in recent memory. You can now breathe a little bit because two of those upcoming games, including one on most people’s radar, have been pushed back. Ubisoft has confirmed that their upcoming release in the Splinter Cell series, Splinter Cell: Conviction, will be pushed back a few months into April 2010. Splinter Cell: Conviction was originally schedule for a late February 2010 release. Ubisoft has not commented on reasons for the delay, but we can assume for more polish or to avoid the already busy Q1 2010 schedule. Unfortunately, R.U.S.E is not so lucky; the strategy game has been given an estimated 2010-11 release window.
Having watched every video, seen every screenshot and interview on Splinter Cell: Conviction, I was saddened to hear the delay, but look forward to more breathing room in the coming months. Mark your calendars for April, because Sam Fisher will be ready at that time, with more content than ever.
