Rating:
5 out of 5

Review Summary:
Dead Space 2 delivers more than just an engrossing sci-fi action game with improvements on the original Dead Space. It delivers an interactive narrative that truly taps into the player’s emotions. From the onset of the game and through the conclusion, Dead Space 2 is a pulse-pounding experience in terror. Players will always be on guard, yet still be broken. The necromorphs may be scary and gory, but the newfound level of terror bred by Visceral Games creates a claustrophobic terror unparalleled in gaming. The lighting is spectacular and amplified by the jolting audio. Isaac Clarke is better personified through his voice, but it his eyes that are even more expressive of his dementia. Dead Space 2 isn’t survival horror. It’s survival terror. An adrenaline rush from start to finish, Dead Space 2 is an opus of both horror and terror. Visceral Games has mastered the art of fear and set a new standard in gaming.

BioShock 2 review

Globulos Party
Available for Nintendo DSi
Game Developer & Publisher: Globz
Release Date: March 1, 2010
ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)

Official website: www.globulos.com/party

Review Summary:
Globulos Party packs in a bunch of gameplay in a little downloadable DSiWare game for $5. With 72 Globulos characters, 150 crowns to win, and 20 different gameplay types, there is no shortage of content in the game. Some of the 20 games may play similar to each other, but you will find at least a few you’ll like and make it worth the $5 entry. The two-player game modes are designed so anyone can play with you, making the game easy to share via wireless connection or taking turns on the same screen. The characters, animations and music are colorful and can be enjoyed by any gamer, young and old.

Mass Effect 2 – review

by GamingBits on February 8, 2010

in Game Review Bits

Mass Effect 2
Available for Xbox 360, PC
Game Developer: BioWare
Game Publisher: Electronic Arts
Release Date: January 26, 2010
Official website: masseffect.bioware.com

Review Summary:
Mass Effect 2 multiplies the improvements from the first game. Graphics, gameplay, characters and dialogue immerse you in a must play, and own, sci-fi RPG. There’s much to love about Mass Effect 2, which manages to balance the very fine line of action and storytelling like few games can. Very minor technical things get in the way of Mass Effect 2. Overall, if you love science fiction with a blend of choice and consequence, you need to play Mass Effect 2.

Bayonetta – review

by GamingBits on January 18, 2010

in Game Review Bits

Bayonetta
Available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3
Game Developer: Platinum Games
Game Publisher: SEGA
Release Date: January 5, 2010
Official website: sega.com

Review Summary:
Bayonetta is a wickedly over-the-top, stiletto-gun-blasting good time. SEGA and Platinum Games have hit gold with the newest gaming starlet, Bayonetta. The action is intense, particularly in some of the biggest boss battles you’ve recently seen. Rarely slowed down by some gameplay variations, Bayonetta has many moves to master. The soundtrack is varied, from angelic hymns to upbeat pop. If long hair, heels, and latex wear aren’t your thing, don’t worry. Bayonetta will make you dig what she does with them.

Nostalgia – review

by GamingBits on January 3, 2010

in Game Review Bits

Nostalgia
Available for Nintendo DS
Game Developer: Matrix Software, Red Entertainment
Game Publisher: Ignition Entertainment
Release Date: October 27, 2009
Official website: www.nostalgiads.com

Review Summary:
Nostalgia from Matrix Software and Ignition Entertainment seeks to find the JRPG fan inside you and bring it back to the present. Through similar mechanics, story and gameplay as other famous RPGs from your past, Nostalgia looks to achieve this. A generic hero story, with turn-based gameplay forces Nostalgia to be compared to games like Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger and other famous RPGs from the early ’90s. It is simply a solid game that is perfect for those who want another game which does not stray far from the tropes of its genre.
