Visceral Games invites you back into Dead Space 2 multiplayer mayhem with the upcoming Outbreak multiplayer map pack. Included in the pack will be two new locations, as seen in the single-player game, and fitting for the “Outbreak” name.
Here are the details from Visceral Games on the new multiplayer environments:
The Academy
“The Academy brings a new environment to Multiplayer. Fight your enemies among the schools of The Sprawl, as you work together to activate the decontamination system and escape from the school.”
The Concourse
“The Concourse gives you access to The Sprawl’s mall, where the humans must escape and evade the Necromorph incursion, and send a distress signal to the rescue ship outside.”
Outbreak will be available as a free download for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Watch for the availability of the Dead Space 2 Outbreak Map Pack on May 31, 2011 on Xbox LIVE and on June 3, 2011 on the PlayStation Network.

A couple of new chapters in the Dead Space 2 sci-fi horror are available today from Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network. Dead Space 2: Severed is now available from Xbox LIVE for 560 Microsoft Points ($6.99), which includes two new single-player chapters. Purchase and queue it up here from xbox.com. Watch for the Dead Space 2: Severed downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 when the PlayStation Store is updated later tonight (also $6.99).

The developers of Dead Space 2, Visceral Games, will be online for some multiplayer matches on the PlayStation Network today. Dead Space 2 multiplayer matches will happen at 11am PST or 3pm PST (RSVP here via the official Dead Space 2 facebook page). Team play is encouraged for survival, so make sure you don’t split away from your squad (or limbs)! Take out the developers to unlock two viral suits: the White Tiger and Viral Blue variants.
