“1,000 Online” A Success! Sort Of…

Today we, the gaming community, have proved that we can band together for an important cause: Achievements. Over one thousand Xbox 360 gamers popped in their NBA Live ’07 discs and signed onto one of the many online features simultaneously to unlock the never-before-achieved “Online With 1,000 People” achievement.

Sadly, this was a bitter-sweet victory. Sweet because whoever went online on-time (or, in most cases, early) was rewarded with 100 gamerscore and bitter because those who did unlock this rare achievement logged off almost immediately; making it impossible for some gamers who didn’t make it right on-time to get theirs.

The gathering
was scheduled for 3pm EST. We logged on at about 2:50 and saw the number of people fluctuate from almost 1,100 at that time down to the hopeless mid 700′s at around 3:15pm. I know that many people stayed on for hours just as they promised, but it simply wasn’t enough to help the “stragglers” who logged on 15 minutes late (sorry Mike!). Hopefully, the next time something like this is arranged, we can hang tight for just a little longer to help our fellow gamers. Thanks xbox360achievements.org for organizing this gathering!
