GameStop/EB Games has announced that it will be exclusively selling the limited edition of BioShock, for the Xbox 360 and PC. The limited edition will go for $69.99 and be available on August 21, 2007. 1up.com spoke to Elizabeth Tobey of 2K Games on why GameStop/EB Games will exclusively be getting the BioShock Limited Edition.
From the 1up.com article: “Typically we would have started a limited edition six months ago, but even with our looming production deadlines we’re trying to listen to the community and fans — in choosing the contents based on the poll, and in designing the front of the box. With our current timeline, I don’t think we could make 500,000 copies of the LE to get out to every retailer just given production times on the figurine alone. So we were looking at a very limited quantity, and we were fortunate that GameStop and EB would pick it up on such a short notice. Given the limited quantity, if we were to spread it out over every retailer we would be looking at maybe two copies per store, and that’s not fair to anyone.”
The exclusive edition will come with the fan selected Big Daddy figurine, a behind the scenes DVD, a BioShock soundtrack CD and an embossed graphic cover art (from this cover art contest, ending tomorrow, 5/2/07).

Limited Edition in Stores Nationwide on August 21, 2007
GRAPEVINE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME), the world’s largest video game and entertainment software retailer, today announced that an exclusive, limited edition of the upcoming video game BioShock™ from 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), will be available in GameStop and EB Games stores on August 21, 2007. The game will be available for play on Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows, the new brand optimized for Windows XP and Windows Vista.
The exclusive edition will include a Big Daddy figurine, a behind the scenes DVD, a BioShock soundtrack CD and an embossed graphic cover art designed by the winner a cover art contest.
The BioShock Limited Edition will retail for a suggested retail price of $59.99 (USD) for the PC and $69.99 (USD) for Xbox 360.
