Following multiple leaks last night regarding the possible release date of the New Nintendo 3DS XL in North America, Nintendo has confirmed this morning via their Nintendo Direct, that the new handheld will be available on February 13th, 2015. Here are some of the new features on the New Nintendo 3DS XL:

– A new 3DS c-Stick which is supposed to simulate a smaller sized circle pad as featured on the current 3DS.
– 3DS tracks your movement so that the 3D effect isn’t lost when viewing it at different angles.
– Game card slot moved to the bottom of the 3DS console.
– Faster Processor and GPU (Graphics).
– Two Triggers on either side (ZL and ZR as seen on Wii U and Circle Pad Pro).
– 3DS will adjust brightness depending on the light in the area.
– Micro SD slot as opposed to a standard SD card slot.

Nintendo has also confirmed that the New Nintendo 3DS XL will not include a AC adapter. While it will utilize the same adapter from the Nintendo 3DS or DSi systems, new adopters will need to purchase one separately in order to experience the New Nintendo 3DS.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL will be available on February 13th, 2015 and will retail for $199.99. There is currently no announcement if the previous Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL will drop in price as a result of the launch of this handheld.
